At about 1 p.m., when crossingthe Kasoa Stream, the force came into contact with theenemy, who had re-formed during the retirement fromKaronga. After a sharp action of two hours durationthe enemy was completely defeated and retired indisorder towards the (Jennan border, losing two fieldguns, a quantity of small arms, ammunition and stores. Baron Longenaor was reportod to have diedduring the retreat. Among the British woundedwas Capt. Barton, and the command of theField Force was taken over by Capt. H. W.Stevens.
