Pearsons of Chicago promised $50,-000 for the endowment of the building, provided abuilding worth $60,000 was erected. When itwas found that the needed structure would costnot less than a quarter of a million, the friendsof the College came forward and made possiblethe erection of the splendid building now beingdedicated. The building alone cost $286,000,while the equipment cost $30,000 more. Thus thetotal investment is $366,000. This financial state-ment, however, inadequately describes the value ofthis new asset to the educational equipment of thestate. The building is the result of a careful andexhaustive examination of the best laboratoriesin the world. A large amount of the equipment isin transit from Europe and the East and will notbe in place for a number of weeks to come.
