Summary

[edit]
Description
English: As seen in August 2022: standing on a hexagonal pedestal in the middle of Mirror Lake at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, New York is The Three Graces, a 1987 bronze recast of a sculpture by locally-based artist Charles Cary Rumsey whose 1911 original is located at the Hudson Valley estate of his father-in-law, Edward H. Harriman. With a style that was described in a news report on its installation as "fit[ting] soothingly into the heady mix of Victorian and classical sculpture and architecture surrounding it", it depicts three life-size female nude figures, representing the three muses Aglaia, Eurphersyne and Thalia of Greek mythology, standing in a circle holding hands with a pleasant fountain in the center.
