The New York & Penn-sylvania Traction Com-pany operates the Tren-ton, Lawrenceville &Princeton Railroad, undera steam charter, and thecombination of street rail-ways extending to New-town, Pa., 12 miles. Alto-gether 25 miles of roadare operated. Freight iscarried on the Princetonline, being hauled directfrom the Philadelphia &Reading Railway tracksin cars belonging to thatcompany. The Trenton,Lawrenceville & Prince-ton Railroad is the onlystrictly electric railroadin the State which haulsregular railroad freightcars, including the battle-ships loaded with coal.All this hauling is donewith the passenger cars,after hours. Cars are run to Adeline(near Broad) and Liberty Streets, Trenton, over the tracksof the Camden & Trenton Railway, and a special car conveysthe passengers to and from State and Warren Streets (2^miles) in the business center of the city. Cars enter NewBrunswick over the Middlesex & Somerset tracks. The Tren-ton & New Brunswick Company has a steam railroad charter,but has carried very little freight. The New Jersey Short LineCompany has been chartered within the past few weeks for theexpress purpose of extending the line northward from MilltownJunction to Elizabeth, where, it is understood, connection willbe made with the Public Service lines, and the cars run throughNewark into Jersey City.
