In this sub-station carsufficient room did not exist to put onthe bayonet switches, and the threetransformers are supplied with solitlconnections. It is believed that per-manent connections will answer everydemand made on the portable plant.The transformer cases are made veryhigh to prevent oil overflowing andrunning out on the floor, because ofthe movement of the car. Long polesare provided to hook connection ontothe transmission lines at any pointalongside of the track. Bayonetswitches complete the connection to the car, and an oil break switch fur-nishes a reliable means of opening or closing the connection between the transformers and the high-tension line. HIGH-TENSION TRANSMISSIONThe high-tension line runs from the power house to a pointnorth of the Penobscot Mountain, called Rileys Run, a distanceof 14 miles.
