All thecountry traversed by the above railway lines is devoted to pastoraland agricultural industries, and the landscape, with the exception ofthe hilly district of the Sierra de Tandil and the Sierra de la Ven-tana, is always the same—bare pampa, with stretches of marshes andsmall lakes abounding in wild fowl. As for the estancias, towns, vil-lages, and colonies, when you have seen one you have seen all, and allare equally unpicturesque.
