[edit]DescriptionThe Silver Moon off Bangor (geograph 5010404).jpg |
English: Seen here in Bangor Bay, the 'Silver Moon' is one of the original 'Howth 17': "Designed in 1897 and first built and launched in 1898, the Howth Seventeen Footer is the oldest one-design keelboat racing class in the world and is still racing today to its original design!" (from LinkExternal link accessed June 2016).
The boat was built by John Hilditch in Carrickfergus; now based in Howth it was in Bangor Bay taking part in 150th anniversary celebrations for the Royal Ulster Yacht Club. In the distance behind is 285m LNG carrier 'Meridian Spirit' |
