Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Secret Garden, Bristol Place-Bristol Road, Kemptown, Brighton (NHLE Code 1415852) (September 2019) (2).JPG | The Secret Garden, junction of Bristol Place and Bristol Road, Kemptown, Brighton, City of Brighton and Hove, England. The Grade II listing of this 1830s structure comprises the "north, south and west garden walls, vault and garden structures" of what used to be the private walled garden of 32 Sussex Square, to which it was linked by an underground passage. The walls represent the first ever use of William Ranger's Artificial Stone, first patented in 1832. The present garden is about one-third of the size of the original; the eastern wall (not included in the listing) marks the modern boundary. |
