Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Seal of the Borough of Ashburton The church gates are surmounted by the Seal of the Borough of Ashburton, which originated around 1250. This seal consists of a church with a spire and three gable end, of 13th century architectural style; the Sun and Crescent Moon - symbols of mining for copper and tin respectively; a Teasel plant - used in the woollen trade; and St Andrew's Cross. It shows that from very early days the town life was closely connected with its Church.
