NOVELTIES AND SPECIALTIES. 9 NOVELTIES IN 5WEET PEAS. STELLA MORSE. Tlie blossom opens a most fascinating shade of deep cream, which becomes a little lighter as the flower grows older. About the third day it is a delicate prim- rose with a faint rose pink on the edge, which casts a pleasing blush tint to a mass of the blooms, with- out destroying the creamy yellow effect. It is per- fect iu form, grows on long stems with three and four flowers to the stem. ORIENTAL. This is the notable variety of that "rich orange cast," selected out of the New American Seedlings, and developed until it comes absolutely true from seed. The long steins generally bear three flowers, all facing one way. The flowers are large in size and rich in coloring. Standard slightly pointed, and suf- fused with bright, orange salmon. Wings recurved, suffused with orange salmon and deepening to car- mine rose in the centre. SENSATION. This bears three and often four large flowers, all facing one way, on the top of long stiff stems. The standard is well expanded, slightly pointed and re- curved, of delicate silky texture, suffused with a faint blush ; the wings of heavier texture, broad, semi-erect, well recurved and more nearly white than the stand- ard. It is unsurpassed in delicacy of coloring, and the vines continue to be completely covered with flowers a long time, even under the hottest sun. LOTTIE HUTCHINS. To those familiar with the popular Raraona, intro- duced several years ago, we can best describe this variety by saying that it is daintily flaked with pink in the same manner, but on a cream ground instead of white, making a richer and even more lovely effect. The flowers are of well expanded grandiflora type, large in size and finely formed, borne on heavy, sub- stantial stems. MODESTY. This is the most delicate pink in existence. Al- though of such a delicate blush it is really a self-color and sufficiently pink not to conflict in any way with Blanche Burpee. It has the great advantage of being hlack-seeded and is therefore of vigorous growth. Flowers large size, and perfect in form ; borne pro- fusely three on a stem, while the unusual length of stent is quite a feature of this novelty. Price of all the above varieties: Pkt., 10c; oz., 20c; )4 lb., 70c DWARF SWEET PEA, PINK CUPID. In habit and manner of growth it is strictly a Cupid, spreading from the root, from a foot to 18 inches around, growing from 6 to 8 inches high, and shooting up stems about 6 inches long, which bear, in full bloom at once, from three to four handsome blos- soms, all borne close to the end of the stem. The standard of the flower is wide, often measuring an inch and a half, but not over an inch high. The standard is a bright, rosy pink, while the wings are pure white or light pink. The wings are large and finely formed;, when pressed back against the stan- dard they extend fully a quarter of an inch beyond it. The plant itself is vigorous and hardy. The seed, which is black, is of strong germination, and the plant an early bloomer, coming into bloom simultaneously with "White Cupid. Though flowering early, it continues in bloom very late, bearing a profusion of blossoms so thickly as to completely hide the plant itself. It will be without a rival as a bedding and border annual, for its color and fra- grance make it a rare novelty. No novelty of recent introduction has such brightness, beautv and grace combined as Piiik Cupid. Price: pkt., 10c.; oz.,20c.; %lb., 60c. DWARF SWEET PEA, WHITE CUPID. A new dwarf White Siveet Pea, growing only 5 inches high, with very dark green foliage ; blossoms pure waxy white. The plants are from 12 to 15 inches in diameter, having stems about 4 inches long, and bearing two or three blos- soms close to the end of the stem. It is a free bloomer, from May until Sep- tember. Pkt., 5c; oz., 15c; 34 lb., 30c. NEW EVER=BLOOMING SUNFLOWER, "STELLA." This new annual attains a height of 3 to 4 feet and produces its handsome, well-formed flowers in the greatest abundance all through the summer till late in fall. The flowers are 2% to 3 inches across, are borne on long stems which rise well above the lively green, small foliage and are of purest golden yellow with a black disc. It is a splendid flower for cutting and equally as valuable for flower groups or as a solitarv plant on the lawn. Per pkt., 10c; 3 pkts., 25c. VAUTIER'S MAMMOTH PANSY. This magnificent strain of enormous pansies is the work of Mr. Chas. Vau- tier, one of the most successful pansy growers in the United States. It is the result of twenty years' careful and assiduous labor. In size and perfect form they "rival anything heretofore introduced. The flowers will measure 1x/2 to 4 inches across and are of the most perfect form and shape. The plants are strong, bushy, compact and flower most profusely a long time. The colors are extremely rich and varied, embracing all fancy, spotted, blotched and striped, with self colors. By mail, pkt., 15c; two pkts., 25c.
