With the dawn of the day ourartillery in the neighbourhood of Wo-lung-kang opened fire on the enemy infront, only to discover that the enemyscondition was different from that of mand in the battlefield, and the officeralso stated that Lieut.-General Sak-haroff and Major-GeneralKondoravitchw^ere wounded. The enemy retreated in confusionowing to our pursuit. Indicationsshow that the enemy originally intend- the preceding day. Thereupon several ed strenuously to defend the heights bodies in the neighbourhood of theabove place at once pushed forwardand occupied Tsing-shih-shan. As soon as this was known to theleft wing, several bodies constituting near Tsing-shih-shan and wage a de-cisive battle there. WAR RECORD. 487 tun, while about two batteries of his^tilleiry appeared at Chin-shan-lingeast of the above place and fired ^.tthe neighbourhood of Tung-chiao-kou,.The enemy in the neighbourhoodof Hu-chang-tun on the Kai-ping toHai-cheng road has retired. On the27th there were only about six squad-rons of the enemys cavalry in theneighbourhood of Wen-chiao-tun andanbther body of cavalry with a batte-ry of horse artillery near Tung-yang-shu-kou. The enemys force retiringfrom Yingkow stopped in the neigh-bourhood of Kang-wa-sai. A cavalry detachment of the Armyoccupied Yingkow on the 25th. Allthe buildings at Yingkow station hadbeen destroyed,and all the Rus-sian vesselsthere had es-caped to theupper course ofthe Liaoho,while the Rus-sian garrisonhad retirednorth east.
