English: The Rudston Monolith, Rudston, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. This is the tallest standing stone in Britain and is located within the churchyard of Rudston parish church. The monolith stands almost 8 metres high and it is thought that the stone may extend to a similar depth underground. It consists of Moor grit conglomerate and is thought to have been erected in the Late Neolithic period, possibly circa 2,000 B.C. |
