Description |
English: The Royal Navy during the Second World War Led by the Holy Cross and two sailors carrying candles, the procession nears the shrine at Carfin. Father John Wilson, a naval chaplain led more then a hundred Catholic naval officers, ratings and Wrens of HM ships and establishments in the east of Scotland in a pilgrimage to the Scottish Lourdes at Carfin. Officers and ratings carried the canopy of the Blessed Sacrament, held by Father W Tindall-Atkinson in procession to the grotto, and before Our Lady's shrine he gave benediction, and finally blessed the congregation of 2,000 people. |
