Description
English: Bvt. Col. Louis H. Carpenter greeting Lt. Col. G. A. Forsyth, his wounded comrade, at the Battle of Beecher Island, Colorado, 25 September 1868. This battle was between the U. S. Cavalry and Native American Cheyenne. The picture is called The Rescue where a soldier greets his wounded comrade. The article from which this sketch comes from describes the two officers represented.
