In the immediate vicinity of OldWindsor church is situated this ele-gant cottage, the Garden - Front ofwhich is represented in the annexedengraving. Its unpresuming and pic-turesque appearance, combined withthe beauty of its situation, wouldalone have rendered it worth notice;but when to this is added, its beingso long the occasional residence ofthe Princess Elizabeth (now Duchessof Hesse-Homburg), it becomes pecu-liarly interesting. It was here shedelighted in diffusing around thatexquisite taste for the arts in whichshe so much excelled. The ground belonging to this cot-tage is very limited; but the usefulis nevertheless so admirably blendedwith the agreeable, that it is defici-ent h> nothing that a summer resi-dence of this nature requires.
