The Recreation of Dame Alice Kyteler (sculpture by Ani Mollereau) at Kyteler's Inn

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Recreation of Dame Alice Kyteler (sculpture by Ani Mollereau) at Kyteler's Inn in Kilkenny.

Description from information panel next to sculpture: The frog has always been associated with witches, but they are also the symbol of transformation and change. They can also live in two worlds, water and land. The cat has power over illusion; it reminds us to look within ourselves where we will always be shown the truth. Also cats being aloof show us that sometimes the best solution to a problem is to walk away from it as Dame Alice did. The cat is the logo for Kyteler's Inn. The wart on the nose is a symbol of a witch not to be messed with! Warts can also mean one will be unable to repel attack against your honour, as was the case with Alice. They are also a symbol of great wealth.

The Buttons represent protection, guarding ones honour and keeping yourself "button your lip."
