Vulsella forceps similar in construction to those shown in Figure45, are useful in various operations on the uterus and about the cervix.They serve to grasp and draw down the cervix, to grasp an intra-uterine tumor, and to steady the cervix during the passage of a sutureor during curettage. Scissors.—The minor gynecological operations may be performedeither with the scissors or with a knife. The choice depends muchupon the education and habits of the operator. The scissors causeless hemorrhage, and when one becomes accustomed to their use hecan work more accurately and more rapidly. Any strong, Avell-made,slightly curved scissors will suffice, but those of Emmet are adaptedespecially to intravaginal, perineal, and vulvar operations.
