Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Precincts Walls, the last limit of the city built shortly after the great destruction by the Goths in the middle of the 3rd century AD, Histria, Moesia Inferior, Romania (41607573225).jpg |
Five main building phases have been identified (A-E), dated to between the middle of the 3rd century AD and the late 6th century. The walls, built in opus quadratum, were destroyed again on the occasion of the new Goth's attack in 295 AD and rebuilt at the beginning of the 4th century AD, during Diocletian and Constantine the Great. The precincts will be rebuilt again after the Goths attack during Valens at the end of the 4th century AD and then at the beginning of the 6th century AD during the reign of emperor Anastasius. The precinct had two earthen walls and ditches as adjacent elements of fortification. |
