Thev boarded a trolley car and the conductor de-manded fare. Mr. Odena went down into his pockets forthe needful ten cents, when Mr. Case exclaimed, withthat pretty English accent which is so well known to hisfriends: ,_. Hold on! We dont have to pay car fare. It was a trifle after 11 oclock when the first sessionof the Proprietary Association was called to order in theconvention hall of the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Va.The president, Thomas Doliber, of the Doliber-GoodaleCompaBv, Boston, Mass.. was in the chair, and JosephI.eeming, New York, secretary, discharged the onerousduties of that office. There was every evidence that thesessions of the association were to be filled with enter-taining detail, as there was an unusually large numberof members taking part in the initial transactions. President Doliber congratulated the association heart-ily for the splendid attendance. It augured well, he said,for an interesting series of sessions and he was confidentthat the business that would be transacted would trans-cend in importance that of any previous meeting.
