The benevolent orders are well represented,the Masons and Odd Fellows meeting in halls oftheir own. There are two hotels, the RailroadHouse, which is well kejit, and the Lake House,on the bank of the Truckee River, a most desirable place for a few days stay. One dailystage leaves for Susanville, via Long Valley,in the California portion of the Sierra Nevadas,and another for Fort Bidwell and Surprise Val-ley, vid Pyramid Lake. The Pea Vine District is nine mUes north-west, and about 1,500 feet above Reno, in whichare valuable mines of dark sulphuret oreâthebasest work on the coast, and worked success-fully only of late by the OHara process. The Nevada and Oregon Railroad Companyhave organized to build a narrow gauge (3 feet)road from a point at or near Aurora, EsmeraldaCounty, Nev., to a point at or near Goose Lake 220 wmm pmâ¬iwi⬠wQwmiBw.
