This benchbreaks rather abruptly, and ahnost forms a bluff,and then begins lower Ogden. The upper partis mostly occupied for residences, and has somebeautiful yards with trees now well grown. Thelower portion—that which is principally seenfrom the railroad, is mostly occupied by businesshouses. One peculiarity of the towns in thesewestern or central Territories, is the runningstreams of water on each side of nearly everystreet, which are fed by some mountain stream,and from which water is taken to irrigate theyards, gardens and orchards adjoining the dwell-ings.
