Thewater is broughtfrom City CreekCanon, through the principal streets, in ironpipes, though in some seasons the supply israther short. Srenert/ year the City,—North of the city,Ensign Peak lifts its head, the Mountain ofProphecy, etc. Its crown is oval in shape, andthe mountain, etc , is said to have been seen in avision by some of the Mormon dignitaries longbefore it was beheld by the naked eyes of thepresent settlers. Though the way to the summit re-quires a little toil, and will expand ones lungs tothe fullest extent, yet the reward, when once thesummit is reached, will amply pay for all thetoil it has cost. In the summer months only, the Tabernacle isopen, and the services of the Mormon church are then held therenearly every Sab-bath. Behind therostrum oi pulpitis the great organ,made in the city,and said to be thesecond in size onthe Continent. East of the citythere seems to bea withdrawal ofthe mountains anda part of a circle,formed like anamphitheatre.About two mileseast is CampDouglas, estab-lished by GeneralConnor during thelatewai. It is beau-tifully located onan elevated benchcommanding thecity,and at the baseof the mountains.New buildingshave been erected,and it is nowconsidered oneof the
