Thelower portion—that which is principally seenfrom the railroad, is mostly occupied by lousinesshouses. One peculiarity of the towns in thesewestern or central Territories, is the runningstreams of water on each side of nearly everystreet, which are fed by some mountain stream,and from which water is taken to irrigate theyards, gardens and orchards adjoining the dwell-ings.
