Before you reach the North Platte River, youwill see conclusive evidence of the adaptabilityof these plains to stock-raising, and from thistime on to where the river is again crossed, youwill see numerous herds of cattle and flocks ofsheep. The snows of winter in these elevatedregions are dry, and not frequent.
