An interruptionof a few years in this excessive production would raisethe prices, and thus pay for the losses now sustained. Toomany Eastern people have contracted absurd prejudicesagainst California wines, because chance threw some ofthis sour wine into their cellars. But it may be safelystated that the average California claret and white wineand port are superior to the wine that may be boughtfor the same money in France and Germany and else-where.
