Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Ouse Washes From the high embankment on the right bank, looking across the New Bedford River (otherwise known as the Hundred Foot Drain). The trees in the distance mark the line of the Old Bedford River. The low-lying land in between the two rivers is known as the "Ouse Washes", a nature reserve. The Washes are regularly deliberately flooded in winter to dispers surplus water coming down the rivers. Very unusually the Washes were also flooded in June, 2007 when this photograph was taken.
