Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Orangery - geograph.org.uk - 975334.jpg |
English: The Orangery. Built in the 1760s, The Orangery has been many things including a zoological garden, a school,
( George Gissing, the Wakefield novelist, received part of his education here), a burial place and a public bathhouse. See 943454 The Orangery is a unique Grade II* listed site now owned by Beam, (formerly Public Arts). Beam is an arts, architecture and learning organisation, and already they are stamping their authority on the building. Notice the figure on the roof, and the wooden sculpture in the grounds.975338 |
