| Description |
English: The Old Still Inn, King Street, Wolverhampton The Old Still Inn was built in the late 18th century and had its frontage redesigned in the 1880s. The whole side of the street was renovated in the 1980s, and several buildings, including this one, are now listed buildings. As a pub, it closed in about 2004. Here it is trading as a Caribbean food restaurant, which closed suddenly in March 2009. It is for sale for £25000 as suitable for converting to a "style bar" at the "centre of the Wolverhampton drinking circuit".
Dame Maggie Teyte, a world famous operatic soprano was born in Wolverhampton in 1888, and died in 1976. Her father owned several public houses, including The Old Still. Maggie Teyte's mother is listed as the licensee of this pub in 1896. |
