Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Old Man of Storr This 160 foot high basalt pillar, like its companions along the Trotternish escarpment, is the result of landslip. Incredibly the Old Man was climbed by Don Whillans and James Barber in 1955. The outline of the Black Cuillin can be seen in the distant background. I once visited the Old Man and his fellow giants in a dense fog. A very weird and disorientating experience to have these giants loom out of the fog just feet away!
