Someyears ago I received several large lotsof European eggs, and was quite dis-gusted to find that as a rule the onlydata consisted of the name of the spe-cies, the date, and the locality. Inthe majority no reference was made tosuch obviously important items as thename of the collector, nesting-site,materials of the nest, incubation, etc. Fortunately we are considerably inadvance of this method in America,but even here there is often much tobe desired. Just recently I receiveda set, the data for which made nomention whatsoever of the localitywhere the eggs were taken. Such setsare of course of no value as scientificspecimens.
