This book was originally publishedto sell at fifteen dollars a volume,but I understand that some time afterMr. Capens death his heirs foundparts of this first edition which forsome reason had never been bound inbook form. Although many of thesepages of text and plates were dam-aged, enough perfect ones were foundto make it possible to have about onehundred copies bound in fine condi-tion. This book is described in the cata-logue as quarto, one hundred and tenplates, and twenty-five plates sliowmgmore than three hundred eggs in theirnatural sizes and true colors.
