Many of his notesand observations on birds are fullyquoted by the late publication issuedby his native state, THE BIRDS OPCONNECTICUT. During his long years of life heheld a rank and position in his ownhome for strict business integrity,good habits, and general all aroundcitizenship excelled by none. Hislove for and knowledge of the birdswas a predominating characteristicof his life, and a tender chord istouched in the following from the penof his bereaved wife: When Mr. Beers was sick, when hewas too weak to want anything else,even for me to play softly on thepiano to help quiet him, he would askme to read a little from THE OOLO-GIST. I told my mother it seemedsometimes as he would almost passaway with one of these papers in hishands, as there was a short time hetried to read himself. It is a pleasure to us to know thateven in a slight measure the effortsof The Oologist may have in somedegree eased the declining hours ofthis real, true man. Mr. Beers leavesa monumental collection of speci-mens as a reminder of his untiringinterest and industry in his chosenstudy. A recent raise in the river here atLacon, disclosed many King Rails innests, that had been built at a lowerstage of water, and many eggs werefloated away and destroyed. Chestnut-sided Warbler.Data of Nest. June 22d, nest completed and readyfor eggs. June 30th, second visit to nest andit contained three partly incubatedeggs. July 6th, third visit to nest, contain-ed two young (new hatched) and oneegg. The photo here was taken onthe above date, of parent bird on thenest. July 13th, went to the nest again,prepared to get some pictures of thebirds, but the nest was hobbed—beingempty,
