very clearly marked, fine speci-mens, the third was considerablelighter and the fourth was almostunmarked. No. 8, Date, June 7, 1912; In tractof scattering timber built in a clumpof snowberry bushes; situated 20inches above the ground on and be-tween small twigs. A neat, compactnest composed of weedstems, grassesand hairs sparsingly lined with blackhorse hairs and one feather of a SootyGrouse. It contained four eggs whichwere incubated about a week. No. 9, Date, June 9, 1912; At theedge of a clearing in a partly swamp-land hillside built in the horizontalfork of a hazel bush, 28 inches abovethe ground; very well concealed inthe dense growth of bindweed andrank ferns. This nest is a marvel ofcompactness and size for this Warb-ler; the walls are compact iy2 to 2V2inches thick; it is neatly and deeplycupped. The cavity measures twoinches in daimeter and 1% inchesdeep. Into its composition have en-tered, bindweed stems, several thistlestems, ferns and grasses, lined with 110 THE OOLOGIST

No. 10, Date, May 19, 1912; Whilemyself and Mr. Alex Walker werestrolling through a large tract ofbrushy pasture land, trying to see allwe could on the line of bird-life, Istruck with my light cane into a clumpof bushes saying, This would be atypical place for a MacgillivraysWarblers nest, and Mr. Walker, whowas new to our western field, took abetter look into the bushes, and im-mediately called, there is a nest start-ed here. I took a look at it and couldsee the crude outline of a nest, whichI at once identified as a Macgilli-vrays nest. May 22, I went to see itand found it completed; May 23, itcontained one egg; May 26, it held foureggs; May 27 the female sat, whenI approached, but when I came withintwo rods of the nest she disappeared,and on looking into the nest, beheldfive eggs of uniform size.
