iver, Florida.We should have said, at Orange LakeReservation. Paul Kroegel is wardenof the well known Bird Island in In-dian River, occupied by Pelicans. Mr. Baynard writes that he hasabout eight thousand pair of birds un-der daily observation for some fivehours. His extensive collection ofbirds eggs has recently been placedin the State University of the stateof Florida. E. H. Short of Chili, New York, re-ports: March 27th, Evening Gros-beak; seen twice; probably same bird;male. First seen since 1890. June 18th; Mocking bird in fullsong; first recorded in twenty-fiveyears. Another Double Shelled Egg. Alex. Walker of Armour. South Da-kota, reports receiving a tame chick-ens egg of the circumference length-wise of nine inches, around the sides,7% inches; smaller diameter 2%inches. This proved to be a doubleshelled egg, and was successfullyblown by Mr. Walker without injuryto either shell, each of which contain-ed a yolk. He now has a splendidspecimen of these rare eggs. 140 THE OOLOGIST
