Ourtheory of it is that if we can domesti-cate the various North American wildfowl, they will last forever; they willbecome a source of national wealthand of added meat supply; they willbe ornamental and will be preservedfrom utter extinction. Thinking perhaps some of our ex-periments along this line would be ofinterest, we have given over this num-ber of THE OOLOGIST largely to theproposition of North American WildFowl in confinement. In order to keep such birds in con-finement, it is proper and in someplaces necessary to get the consent ofthe local game warden. Then pre-pare a place where there is plenty ofshade and plenty of room and somewater. The small quantity of waterwith which a duck or goose can getalong is suri)rising, and nearly allspecies, with proper surroundings willnest in confinement.
