116 The North and West Illustrated. of many beautiful lakes, full of fish, and surrounded by a highly cultivated country.Leaving Kenosha, we successively pass Pleasant Prairie, Woodworth, Bristol,Salem, Fox River, Bassetts, Genoa Junction, where it crosses the* Fox River Di-vision, as before related ; Hebron, Alden, Harvard, where it crosses the WisconsinDivision ; Chemung, Capron, Poplar Grove, South Caledonia, where it crossesthe Madison Division ; Argyle, and Harlem, and reach Rockford and the FreeportLine. In most of these villages are cheese and butter factories, and more or less of othermanufactures. Near Fox River are Silver and Lily lakes. Wilmot and Munster aretributary, and reached by stage. Brighton is two miles from Salem, and is reached bystage. Twin Lakes are one and a half miles from Bassetts. Alden is a strict tem-perance village, of 200 people.
