The Province owns 11 steam vessels, and 224 sailing vessels,with a tonnage of 45,237. Timber product, 1881, 910,200 cu. ft. Number of churches, 231. Free school system introduced 1853.School population, 22,711. Number of district schools, 355; gram-mar, 15; high, 46; colleges, 8. Number of miles of railway, 300.
