| Description |
English: The Museum The Museum, Buckingham, originally a Gaol, one of the first purpose built Gaols in the country. Originally built in 1748.
Aylesbury is now the centre of administration for Buckinghamshire. The Summer Assizes (Law Courts) were moved there from Buckingham in 1707 and the town suffered a major fire in 1725. However Browne Willis, member of parliament for Buckingham, together with Lord Cobham of Stowe had the Assizes returned in 1747 and arranged for the building of the Gaol. |
