measuring and filling bottles, andseveral improvements in relation to railwaychurns, butter churns and cream separators. Reference remains to be made to the enormousinterest which continues to be felt among dairy-maids and milkmaids, as well as boy and menmilkers, in the competitions reserved for them.For the butter-making competitions there areexactly 200 entries, and for the milkers contests135. Both of these will be in progress on eachday of the show, and on Friday afternoon, whenthe Lord Mayor visits the exhibition, the LadyMayoress has promised to present as many aspossible of the prizes. Of milkers, both sexescompete in about equal number, there being sixty-six men and boys, and sixty-nine women andgirls. It is noticeable that these are not drawnfrom the immediate neighbourhood of London,and it is characteristic of the widely-diffusedinterest in the show generally to find that theycome from Scotland, Wales, and as many as thirtyEnglish counties, ranging from Durham to Corn-wall.

The Shorthorn Dairy Cow Priceless Princess, shown above, won the First Prize for Shorthorn Dairy Cows,in milk, calved previously to or in 1902, and the Dairy Shorthorn Associations Champion Prize for thebest animal in the Shorthorn Dairy Cattle Classes at the Royal Agricultural Societys Show at Lincolnthis year. She was born February 10, 1902, sire Golden Noble, dam Princess Raglan, and was bred andexhibited by Mr. C. R. W. Adeane, Babrahara Hall, Cambridge. Cattle to the number of 237 are entered in theclasses devoted to Shorthorns, Lincolnshire RedShorthorns, Jerseys, Guernseys, Red Polls, Ayr-shires, Kerrie3, Dexters, and cows of any otherbreed or cross. The latter are to be used for themilkers contests. A sum of £43 was set aside forSouth Devon cows, but, unfortunately, only twoentries were forthcoming, and the class has beencancelled for want of competition.
