Français : Le Masque de fer dans sa prison des îles Sainte Marguerite, d'après Jean-Antoine Laurent, dans un cadre restauration en trompe l'oeil inscrit 'LAURENT.' et signé 'H.THIERRY.'

Mine de plomb, aquarelle, gouache rehaussé de gomme arabique 183 x 156 mm.

Ce dessin a été exécuté d'après le tableau de Jean-Antoine Laurent (1763-1832) intitulé 'L’homme au masque de fer, dans sa prison des îles Sainte-Marguerite', exposé au Salon de 1814 (no 580) et ayant fait partie de la collection de la duchesse de Berry.

Le tableau a été inclus dans la vente de la duchesse de Berry (19 avril 1865, lot 308) et est aujourd'hui perdu (M.-C. Chaudonneret, Fleury Richard et Pierre Revoil, La Peinture Troubadour, Paris, 1980, fig. 21).
