Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Leamside Line The Leamside Line takes off from the East Coast Main Line south of Durham and runs roughly parallel and to the east of the main line, keeping to the west of Houghton-le-Spring, and to the east of Washington to rejoin the main line at Newcastle. The line was mothballed by British Rail in 1991. The future of the line is uncertain, although there is a proposal to bring it into use as part of the Tyne and Wear Metro. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leamside_Line
