A Knaster continuum is meant as a homeomorphic continuum to the inverse limit \varprojlim(I_n,f_n)$ of a sequence of unit intervals I_n=I$ with open, non-homeomorphic bonding maps f_n$. Denote by \mathcal K$ the class of all Knaster continua.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This is an image of the well-known "bucket-handle" continuum. This is one of the simplest and best-known examples of an *indecomposable* continuum; that is, a continuum that cannot be written as the union of two proper subcontinua. The continuum is arc-like and arises in dynamics as the closure of the unstable manifod of the horseshoe map.
