[edit]DescriptionThe Katiba breakthrough - Flickr - Al Jazeera English (3).jpg |
On Sunday, February 20, after days of bloody confrontations in Benghazi, protesters managed to break through the northern wall of the Katiba using homemade "joulateen" explosives, commandeered bulldozers and vehicles loaded with propane tanks. Shortly thereafter, special forces commander Abdelfattah Younis defected and arrived at the other side of the Katiba with his heavily armed forces, breaking through and forcing the final retreat of Gaddafi loyalists inside. |
