A severe fright during adolescence with a subsequentpsychosis with prsecox mechanism. The physical masculinity isstriking; this woman may be taken for both a man and a woman oreither a man or a woman, depending upon the clothing worn. Thereis hypertrichosis of the face and body with masculine distribution.Theexternal genitalia shows development to a degree infantile. Thehands and feet are well formed and pointed fingers tapering. It is possible that there is a disturbance of the hypophysis, thegonads, and probably the suprarenals. 8 MARY OMALLEY Case 2. S. AI.: Hypertrichosis ; obesity ; exophthalmus.Colored, aged 44, married; admitted November, 1915.Family History.—Shows considerable white blood in the ante-cedents. Mother living; had a stroke of paralysis.

Before her nineteenthyear she had an attack of nervous prostration ; there is an indefinitehistory of severe convulsions at this time. Patient recovered fromthe acute symptoms of this attack in three months, but did not re-sume teaching again for one year (probably a pr^ecox episode ). Shemarried when twenty a school teacher; married life was unhappy;her husband did not entirely support his wife and she continued toteach and they lived
