gan to be morbidly sleepy, and onemonth after this had a convulsion, during which, accord-ing to the statement of his wife, he worked all over.He had a number of similar attacks until September,1886, when, following such a seizure, he became irrationaland violent, remaining so for twenty-four hours. During VARIOUS FORMS OF HEMIANOPSIA. 303 the preceding- April had an attack, when the convulsivemovements began on the right side (leg- and arm), andafter this the right side was paralyzed for a number ofhours. Denied syphilis. Patellar reflexes absent. Examination.—Right pupil slightly larger than left.Both react to convergence, but not to light. Therewas constantly present an irregular tremor or choreaof the right arm and sometimes of the right leg, rarelyin the left leg. The speech was slow and hesitating, thememory impaired. His vision was, O. D. -X2X^, O. S. ^;optic nerves gray-red ; edges obscured; veins full andtortuous. The left fields were dark, the right fields much L. E. R. E.

Thedividing line was irregular, passing distinctly in advanceof the fixing point. After a course of mercurials, heimproved somewhat, but reported occasional fits, usuallyright-sided, but occasionally left-sided. This improve-ment continued until November, 1886, when he grewworse. The seizures appeared with increased frequency,,he became noisy and restless at night; the muscles of theface constantly twitched. He was often observed to mas-turbate. The urine had a specific gravity of 1.020, wasslightly albuminous, but there was no sugar present. Thesediment contained oxalate of lime crystals and spermato-zoids.
