Mission and 20th streets-Station D at the Market Street Wharf. Eight stamp agencies are located in different parts of the city. There are123 clerks employed, 160 carriers, (including 12 collectors) 40 substitutecarriers and 14 horses. The salaries of clerks (excluding that of Postmaster)amount to $135,000, while those of carriers (substitutes excluded) foot up$138,000. The expense of keeping the horses is $4,200 per annum.
