THE THIRDDIMENSION IN WAR BY PARK BENJAMIN NO new invention for the destruc-tion of the German U-boatswhich are blockading the Britishcoast, nor for effectively pro-tecting ships against them, has as yetcome to light, nor does there now ap-pear any more chance of such discov-eries being made than has existed eversince the war began. The resurrec-tions, and re-resurrections, and re-re-resurrections of old ideas, of course,have been legion. In France twentythousand plans have been offered to theGovernment, out of which ninety-sevenper cent went immediately into thewaste basket. Of the remaining threeper cent, held for further examination,but one-third were thought worth con-sidering, and from these last nothingappears to have materialized.
