ndian Paradise Flycatcher.(PI. X. figs. 9, 10.) Terpsiphone paradisi Dresser, Man. Pal. B. p. 260. The Paradise Flycatcher breeds in Afghanistan within theEastern Pahearctic area, and in the warmer valleys of theHimalayas up to an elevation of nearly 6000 feet. It alsonests on the plains of India. The breeding-season is inMay, June, or July, according to locality. The small cup-shaped nest is neatly and compactly formed of moss, finegrass, rootlets, fine fibres, cobwebs, and occasionally a littlehorsehair. It is placed in the fork of a tree, between uprighttwigs, or on a branch. The eggs, usually four in number,do not vary much; they are pale pinkish white or salmon-pink in ground-colour, with brownish-red spots, and measureabout 0*8 by 0-6 inch. EGGS OF EASTERN PAL/EARCTIC BIRDS unfigured Eggs of Palmar ctic Birds. 489 This bird breeds in Japan, and places its nest, whichresembles that of T. paradisi, in the fork of a tree fromeight to,,twelve feet above the ground. It is constructed ofdry grass, strips of bark, and moss, interwoven with lichenor spiders webs, and is lined with fine moss-roots. Theeggs, four or five in number, are slightly larger and palerthan those of T. paradisi, and the red dots are ratherdarker. The two eggs figured are from a clutch of four, takenat Fuji, Japan, on the 4th of July. Those in my collectionmeasure about 086 by 0-58 inch. (9) Pericrocotus cinereus. Ashy Minivet. (PI.
