[edit]DescriptionThe Horns of Triton - Voyager 2 (43407605905).png |
Voyager 2 ISS wide-angle camera image of Triton taken around 1030 UT on August 25, 1989. This image set was taken approximately half an hour after closest approach to Triton, and began as Voyager 2 exited eclipse after passing directly behind the moon. This image set was taken as part of a search for atmospheric hazes around Triton. This observation was successful; the long crescent horns are due to light being scattered through Triton's thin atmosphere. Image Credit: NASA / JPL / Voyager-ISS / Justin Cowart |
