Description
Abbott, pupil of artist Francis Towne (1740-1816), travelled to Scotland and the Lake District but a lot of his subject matter was local to Exeter. This is a painting of the High Street, Exeter. In 1815 the High Street was the first in Devon to have gas lighting installed.
